Juvederm Volux: New Jaw Dropping Technology

Updated: Oct 24, 2023

If you haven’t paid attention to the advances in medical beauty technology, you might be interested to know that things have come a long way in the past decade. Non-surgical fillers are a lot more effective and precise than they used to be, and I’m excited to offer the cutting edge (no pun intended) of medical fillers

But I’m getting ahead of myself! Let me fill you in on who I am. I'm a Facial Plastic Surgeon with decades of experience training other doctors on how to use these fillers. I’m once again working to train people on how to use Volux, a brand-new filler used specifically on the chin and jawline.

In 2009, Allergan, the creators of Botox and Juvederm, rolled out a new line of filler products (Vycross) with the launch of Voluma. Since the 90s, surgeons like myself have used hylacross fillers by Juvederm ®, but that technology had limitations when it came to robustness and longevity.

This newer line of products uses a technology known as Vycross ®. Before Vycross, fillers were cross-linked in a less efficient way. Now better cross-linking of the hyaluronic acid gives us more lift capacity and they last twice as long.

The science is complicated, but the results are not: patients are able to get greater results with Volux.

If the roll-out of Vycross technology in 2009 resembled a new moment in the world of beauty, the industry is about to experience a true paradigm shift. The Food and Drug Administration, or, the FDA, has approved Volux for use in the United States. I have had the opportunity to try this filler before its full release to the public and I love it!

These new products provide patients with an option that is both safe and effective in creating a more defined jawline and chin. Juvederm Volux is the first -and only- FDA approved hyaluronic acid filler that is designed specifically for jawline definition. While its predecessors would hold results for six to nine months, results suggest this will easily hold for a year and may last all the way up to two ye

Juvederm Volux is more reliable than its predecessors

To say I’m excited is an understatement. This new filler has truly unprecedented lifting capacity. It has a full three times the lifting capacity as its predecessor.

It’s great to give the jawline more definition, it helps with jowling by smoothing the area, and can help add shape and depth to the chin.

To someone who isn’t savvy with the beauty industry, this all might be unfamiliar. When a filler is used, the goal is to sculpt the skin into the shape that best suits the patient’s needs. The stronger the lifting capacity, the more control you and I have over the results. Jawline filler is a great option if you are looking to refresh your jawline and add definition to the area.

One of my patients wrote to me about her experience with Volux. She is a single mother who chose Volux to give her chin some added peppiness; she said,“Over the last year I’ve seen a change in my chin line. I noticed I was starting to get jowls. Eek! It almost looks like my cheeks were starting to hang. I saw the new filler on Dr. Sanders' social media page and it intrigued me, so I called. I set up a consultation with him and ended up walking out with Volux in my jowl area - ah-hem - jawline. Honestly, it did exactly what I hoped for. It filled in that area that gave me pause every time I looked in the mirror. You can’t tell at all, it just looks natural. And thank goodness for that!”

That’s just one of many patients I’ve been able to help over the years. I’m confident to say that I have both the experience and the depth of knowledge on this new product to make you comfortable and safe.

If you’ve been in the Shreveport-Bossier area for a while, you know that I am a leader in the region’s plastic surgery work. I’ve been given a first look at the new filler, how it works, and how to train other doctors on how to inject it. It’s a joy to work with patients to help them reach their beauty goals. I believe that good work should be invisible.

Volux is an impressive new product and I’d be honored if you wanted to learn more by speaking to my team at Dr Kenneth Sanders Facial Plastic Surgery.
