Micro-Needling and PRP

Have you explored the possibilities of micro-needling? Micro-needling has quickly grown in popularity as one of the easiest and most effective skin treatments available. Patients experience very little pain during treatment, benefit from a quick recovery time, and typically see noticeable difference in their skin within a few days. It is important, however, to understand what Micro-needling is and if it is right treatment option for you.

Also called Skin Needling, or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), Micro-needling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of the MicroPen, containing 12 very fine needles. As they vibrate these needles gently puncture the skin. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to heal these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. While it usually takes six weeks for the full effect of the treatments to be seen, most patients notice their fine lines diminished and a new glow to their skin following their first initial treatment.

In addition to treating fine lines, Micro-needling procedures are also used to reduce deep wrinkles and crease lines; scars created by acne, surgery, or thermal burns; stretch marks; cellulite; and skin dyspigmentation; as well as prevent hair loss and improve skin texture.

As the Micropen stimulates your bodies natural healing properties, your own PRP, or platelet-rich-plasma can be applied back into the skin to promote healing and the release of growth factors that respond to tissue injury. The micro-channels created during treatment allow the PRP to be absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin. Your deep-set skin care concerns will begin to fade as your new tissue heals. A micro-needling treatment using platelet-rich plasma can be done during a short office visit, and requires the withdrawal of a small amount of blood. The blood is then placed into a centrifuge and spun to isolate the blood’s platelet-rich plasma.

Following your procedure, the treated area will be red and slightly inflamed. Applying Hyaluronic acid can help to hydrate, heal, and protect your skin. Results will vary depending on the area you are treating but visible changes can typically be seen within 4-7 days. Repeat treatments are recommended over the following months to see improvement. Your skin automatically renews itself every 40 days, so with a few sessions changes can be dramatic.

This August, purchase a micropen treatment with recovery complex and sunscreen during the week of August 24-28th and you’ll receive one free micropen treatment (a $600 value)!
